When does Steve Clarke run out of his contract. Should we be doing a Newcastle and extending his deal??

WD11. Olsson and Mulumbu hope to be fit. Both were given a run out yesterday to see how they'd get on and were going to be assessed again today
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:05:12 PM
John, SC has about 18 months left. Not sure there's a great rush at the moment - he's not vulnerable to hostile Bosman approach as players are - but yes, suspect they'll revisit it later in year to see if they can sort out a better, longer deal
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:06:13 PM
Hi Chris is Steve Clarke really as laid back as he seems? and whats the situation with B.Foster?
by Cauley WBA 199211/28/2012 12:07:20 PM
Hello Chris. Do you think Jerome Thomas has a future at WBA? Personally I think despite his limitations he offers something different to the side (it goes without saying of course they aren't missing him at the moment).

CauleyWBA, he is quite laid back yes. Doesn't seem fazed/over-excited by bad or good results respectively. As for Foster, he is due to have the minor groin procedure (to the other side of his groin). Should be about a fortnight rehab if all goes well
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:08:31 PM
Chris what do you think is the likelihood that Lukaku will be recalled given Chelsea only have Sturridge and a misfiring Torres to choose from with wingers supporting.
by Abe11/28/2012 12:08:54 PM
WBAfann05 Personally I think he might struggle. Had a fairly poor campaign last year . He obviously got held back by summer surgery and the club has moved on. Better options within the squad. He only has a few months left on contract so suspect he'll be able to leave in Jan if someone offers decent money for him or next summer
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:10:04 PM
Hi Chris, do you think horror gnomes are in some way to blame for where the Villa & Blues find themselves?
by Freethebenchcoat11/28/2012 12:10:05 PM
Chris, how well founded is Albion's alleged interest in Huddersfield Town's Ross Wilson (as a replacement for Dan Ashworth)? The appointment of a Sporting and Technical Director is crucial
by Conrad11/28/2012 12:10:06 PM
Abe, I don't know what plans Chelsea have for Lukaku - but it's fairly clear from SC's reaction that he isn't worried about losing the player. To me that suggests that some discussions might have already taken place. Clubs allow players to go out for season with that in mind - not to recall them early (unless in emergency). Suspect Chelsea might wish to strengthen from elsewhere first. But, given how new Benitez is to job, that could all change depending on injuries, loss of form, etc
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:12:00 PM
Conrad, no truth whatsoever in the stories linking Ross Wilson. It's entirely feasible he applied (or that his name was put out by an agent) but, as things stand right now, he won't be the next Sporting and Technical Director
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:12:55 PM
If you had 12-15 mill to spend 1 key star player next season (over the top i know) but who would it be? and why?
by Cauley WBA 199211/28/2012 12:14:41 PM
Chris. What's your take on how the rival midlands clubs are doing?
by John11/28/2012 12:14:42 PM
Can you please point out I ceased to be an Albion player at around the same time they started to get good. Thanks.
by Borja Valero11/28/2012 12:14:48 PM
Abe, I should add that Chelsea's intention for Lukaku would have been for him to go out, get games, score goals and come back next summer as a better player.
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:14:52 PM
CauleyWBA - crikey, I don't know. What I'd more tempted to do is reinvest the money into wages and bring in 2 or 3 very good players on high wages. transfer fees are not generally a true reflection of a player's worth - more so the wages that particular player commands. But, to answer your, question,I'd think about a centre-half next summer or a striker
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:16:28 PM
John, Shame to see rival clubs doing well. From a professional point of view, good results means better newspaper sales and more hits on our website
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:17:24 PM
John... I meant BADLY not well! Apologies
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:18:01 PM
Borja, Are you still here?
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:18:39 PM
where is james hurst now?
by yeungwba11/28/2012 12:19:17 PM
John, I hope Blues find new owners soon. Villa seem to be still recovering from the MO'N's horrific spending and God only knows how Wolves' problems will be solved
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:19:24 PM
Hi Chris, do you think Albion's position is reflective of how strong the team/squad is, or do you feel we are on the peak of a wave that will, undoubtedly fall at some point?
by Cai11/28/2012 12:19:27 PM
What should we expect in January?
by Paul Barns11/28/2012 12:19:29 PM
yeungwba - he's back at WBA
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:19:40 PM
Cai, I think the second-third of the season will see a more true reflection of League - once the Champions League games are more spread out. I think Albion are above where they will finish. Of course I'd like to be proven wrong, but the Baggies are less well equipped to cope with injuries and individual loss of form than others at the top o the table
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:21:21 PM
What's your opinion on the plans for the new Champions League 7 team structure and would you like to see the albion flying high in the Champions League or is it too soon to dream for us albion fans?
by Cauley WBA 199211/28/2012 12:22:49 PM
Chris will be live online until 12.30pm
by Birmingham Mail11/28/2012 12:23:05 PM
Paul Barns - very little. Steve Clarke has been at great pains to point out he is very happy with the squad. I will be surprised if some attempts aren't made to bring in a right-back...but otherwise I can see very little being done in terms of players coming into the club. Albion have said that only very good loan potentials or low-cost players will be pursued. Hard to think of any who would improve this Albion side
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:23:06 PM
CauleyWBA - Think it's way too early for that. Without knowing how the prize money would be carved up, it's hard to comment. But on the basis of the current UCL format, then the chairman would certainly benefit financially. And it would hold a great novelty factor for the fans. Would Albion win it? No. Would they be more competitive in the Europa League? Definitely.
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:24:54 PM
Do you expect the Albion to be doing much business in January?
by WBA Fan no.511/28/2012 12:25:02 PM
Hi Chris - can we recall Simon Cox from his loan to play alongside Yacob if Mulumbu isn't fit?
by BorjaV11/28/2012 12:25:09 PM
Do you get the feeling that Dorrans's chances at making it as a PL player at WBA are slipping away? He seems to be third choice now for the 'no.10' position behind Morrison and Gera, and Morrison seems preferred to him as a Mulumbu/Yacob stand-in. I'm struggling to see him getting a run in the side any time soon.
by WBA Fan no.511/28/2012 12:25:14 PM
CauleyWBA - A seven club Champions League format would be an utter disaster for 95 per cent of football clubs
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:25:21 PM
wba fan No5 - answered that at 12.23
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:25:52 PM
Any more questions for Chris that aren't about gnomes or onesies? Last chance...
by Birmingham Mail11/28/2012 12:27:17 PM
WBAno5 Re Dorrans, he obviously remains part of the squad. Too early to say his chance is slipping away as others might drop out of form and he might come into it. But, right now, it's hard to see him forcing his way into the first XI on a regular basis. He's a victim of others playing too well in many respects
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:27:33 PM
Thanks for your answers Chris so europa league it is then ;) BOING BOING
by Cauley WBA 199211/28/2012 12:29:41 PM
Many thanks for all your questions. And remember to leave a kind message for Birmingham Mail newdesk on your way out....he's still upset with Wolves' defeat to Millwall
by Chris Lepkowski11/28/2012 12:29:42 PM
Thanks for your questions today and thanks for your time Chris.
