Chris, Any news on Craig Dawson as he has not been part of the matchday squad for a few weeks. It must be tough seeing Caulker getting called up to the full England squad when he has been out shining him for the U21's. Any thoughts about getting him out on loan ? It seems even Tamas is ahead of him now.
by Scott11/14/2012 12:01:43 PM
Do you think Steve Clarke could get headhunted?
by Jase the Baggie11/14/2012 12:01:44 PM
Will Lukaku stay all season?
by Twizzle11/14/2012 12:01:46 PM
Hi, apologies for late show. Had problem logging in
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:03:03 PM
Scott, Craig has been injured for about 2-3 weeks (was reported in Friday's Birmingham Mail). Suffered a nasty eye injury during training, which has needed complete rest as a precaution
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:03:47 PM
Jase the Baggie, I see no reason to think that for now. Still early days in his managerial career ...
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:04:23 PM
Twizzle, Difficult to say re Lukaku. Chelsea have given no indication they intend to bring him back (recent RDM quotes were tenuous to say the least). He's happy here, Clarke is happy to keep him and the arrangement was a season-long loan. It's merely an option but nothing has arisen so far to suggest he will go back. Not really sure what purpose it would serve for Chelsea either unless they lose players to injury
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:05:38 PM
Hi Chris. Europe? Hmm... thoughts?
by Tom11/14/2012 12:05:58 PM
Tom, Probably a little bit early to think about that...but if Albion can get through any periods of injury/suspension and AfCON with good results then no reason why they can't aim for a top 7 finish...
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:06:52 PM
With the risk of Lukaku being recalled and Odemwindge off to the ACN is there any thoughts of sending Rosenberg out on a 28 day loan to get some proper playing time as he may be really needed in Jan.
by Scott11/14/2012 12:08:56 PM
Do you think that given our current situation in recent years that a lot of the criticism levelled at Jeremy Peace has actually been quite outrageous?
by Decka11/14/2012 12:08:58 PM
Hi Chris,
by wbarog11/14/2012 12:10:08 PM
Scott, it's an interesting idea I guess but he's so close to the first-team at the moment that he's still getting game time. The risk you take is that the coming 28 days are busy. If you lose, say, one striker to injury, one to suspension then you're down to the last two strikers given that Long has been carrying an injury for a while (albeit one being managed)
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:10:48 PM
Hi Chris, How's it going finding Dan's replacement ?
by wbarog11/14/2012 12:11:54 PM
Decka, it depends on the criticism. I can understand why, for instance, shareholders have an axe to grind given the carve-up of shares. But it's hard to argue with how the club has evolved during the recent years. A lot of people mention the fact that Albion haven't done a 'Portsmouth' as a main compliment to Peace - I think that does Peace a disservice as any good chairman should protect the club he presides over. His legacy is currently the infrastructure he has helped put in place and the position Albion finds itself in, not to mention the setting up of the Sporting and Technical Director's role which drew a lot of scepticism at the time
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:13:39 PM
Wbarog, still in the process of finding someone. Despite what was said by Dan last month I still wouldn't necessarily rule out the job being split between two people. But, currently, there is no update other than usual ongoing discussions with candidates,
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:14:44 PM
Rosenberg is a worry to me because he has not had a run of games for fitness and with Lukaku and Odemwinge's situation he could be really needed. The risk of Long's injury getting worse over the busy Christmas period makes Rosenberg very important come Jan. I worry about our 'fringe' players lack of game time as they will be needed in Jan
by Scott11/14/2012 12:15:36 PM
Can you see the day when Michael Appleton is Baggies boss Chris?
by Wayne11/14/2012 12:15:50 PM
Hi Chris, Generally top teams dominate matches (posession wise), i understand this doesn't necessarily win games. I would like to see Albion upping their possession rate in matches, any thoughts
by Hi Chris, Generally top...11/14/2012 12:15:54 PM
Scott, Rosenberg's fitness is absolutely fine. He (or anyone else) would be involved in the u-21s if it was issue. A lot of work done on fitness (to simulate match fitness, rather than 'normal' fitness) during the week. He spent a few weeks catching up but he's ok now
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:16:45 PM
Wayne, he's been interviewed for the last two vacancies, so you never know...much depends how he gets on at Blackpool
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:17:15 PM
Have you got a favourite player in the current squad Chris?
by Paul11/14/2012 12:20:14 PM
Has Foster started training and whats his chances for this weekend ? Do you think we will go back to one up front again this weekend ?
by Scott11/14/2012 12:20:16 PM
10 minutes remaining...
by Birmingham Mail11/14/2012 12:21:09 PM
Chris, Interesting point re possession. Someone posted a link to a stat-based piece yesterday which alluded to Albion being 'less attractive' due to having less possession. Missed the point a little. Albion now play with a five man midfield with emphasis on moving the ball around with a lot more pace than under Roy's 442 when it was more pragmatic and ball movement was often sideways-back-forwards. There is more emphasis on getting players running on to forward passes now. This, inevitably, invites potential loss of possession. The change of formation wasn't mentioned in the piece I mention at the top of message - but it's a valid point. Albion encouraged to be dynamic with the ball much more than under RH. That will lead to more moves potentially breaking down...but, on the flip side, providing more goalscoring chances
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:21:23 PM
Paul, I have no favourites.
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:21:40 PM
Scott, It's unlikely that Ben will feature. Even if his fitness is better (which it will be), there is no reason to fasttrack him back in and risk further problems
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:22:14 PM
Are you surprised how well we are doing this year Chris and how well Clarke has fitted into things?
by Twizzle11/14/2012 12:23:26 PM
Chris is there a Hartford, Robson or Moses coming through the Albion ranks ?.
by Hi Chris, Generally top...11/14/2012 12:25:20 PM
Any signs of any youngsters breaking through?
by Decka11/14/2012 12:25:22 PM
Is El Ghanassy closer to being included in the matchday squad ?
by Scott11/14/2012 12:25:26 PM
Twizzle, not unduly surprised given the players Albion have - plus they brought in Lukaku and Yacob to strengthen an already-strong side. Clarke's progress has been refreshing. Biggest Question marks were his man-management. How he would cope with squad utilisation, substitutions, etc. He's got it spot on in that respect at the moment. Players seem happy, coaching is liked and varied. He's doing well
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:25:39 PM
Can we realistically hang onto Yacob?
by Big Tony11/14/2012 12:27:50 PM
Chris/Decka, Berahino, Adil Nabi and Daniels been making impressive progress. Clarke likes Berahino a lot - hence his loan move
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:27:52 PM
Scott, no - El Ghanassy still needs to develop different aspects of his game. Better, more experienced players ahead of him until he shows a willingness to do so.
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:28:25 PM
Would you like to see a former Baggie like BAtson or Regis get Dan Ashworth's job?
by Jonjo11/14/2012 12:29:10 PM
Big Tony, In reality probably not - over long term. But there is no reason why he they can't keep him for a season or two. Realistically every player has a price...
by Chris Lepkowski11/14/2012 12:29:29 PM
Chris is just finishing off the questions. Thanks for getting involved. We are back next week.
by Birmingham Mail11/14/2012 12:30:01 PM
Jonjo, I cannot see Brendon wanting the job given how shambolic his last spell was at the club (through no fault of his own). Not sure whether he could work with certain people on that board either. Cyrille...doubt he'd want it or be suited for it, though I don't know. It involves a lot of travelling, spending time away, working long hours... needs a specific fit of person. I do know that Richard Sneekes was considered as an assistant to Dan's job when Andy Marriott got the gig.
