Hi Chris. 2 great performance that have left us with no points. Do you think Clarke has been naive?Cant help but thinking had Hodgson been in charge for the last two games we would have come away with something. Clarkes philosophy is clearly to attack. But should he have been happy with a point at home to the champions and a point away to Newcastle?
by Irishbaggie10/31/2012 12:09:17 PM
Chris. Newcastle game. Sign of things to come?
by Dave10/31/2012 12:09:20 PM
Hi Irishbagge, not at all. Albion are no longer that side which should sit back and pray for a result. They were perhaps a little naive vs MC (though they could easily have scored two or three during final 10 mins) but you cannot account for the bad luck they had vs NU. If you look at how the NU goal came about, Albion had plenty of players back...it simply took a lucky deflection.
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:11:19 PM
Chris, Hi. Is our European dream over?
by Jake T10/31/2012 12:11:20 PM
Dave, Not really sure what you mean by a sign of things to come... they had bad luck up at Newcastle. Could have come away with a result. By the same token they rode their luck in the first-half vs LFC and during an opening 20 mins period in second half vs QPR. Versus MC they had chances to win but MC simply have players who can control a crossfield ball (witness MAF's failure to bring PO's cross earlier). Vs NU, it was just unfortunate. Plenty of players back...a scuffed shot hits a player on his back and rolls the wrong side of a stranded goalkeeper
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:13:43 PM
Jake T... Not sure about that! You never know what awaits. Would like to think there won't be any OTT over-reactions following two bad results in the same way there wouldn't be after two excellent results
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:14:48 PM
I say, Chris, what about this Odemwingie business?
by Marshall10/31/2012 12:15:43 PM
Do you think we are wasting Odemwingie on the wings?
by TLT10/31/2012 12:15:47 PM
TLT, Not at all. IT's a position he's occupied with great success for previous clubs. If anything his form this season has been an endorsement of him playing in that role, especially in the last three games - but also when he came on vs Everton.
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:16:54 PM
Are Albion settling for mid-table mediocrity? They will never be as good as a mighty World Series winners Villa will they, Chris?
by Marshall10/31/2012 12:17:32 PM
Marshall, they certainly have the upper hand over Villa at the moment
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:18:46 PM
Hi Chris, do Chelsea have a right of recall on Lukaku? I thought when the deal was done it being specifically mentioned there was no recall, yet some of the London media seem to be voicing the possibility that RDM may recall him in Jan.
by Mooncat10/31/2012 12:20:15 PM
Love the book Chris, not quite finished yet but it's really entertaining. Any more planned?
by Bookworm10/31/2012 12:20:22 PM
Chris - just come back from a 25 mile ride - sorry if question already asked. To lose in that fashion v Manc was unlucky. To do so again against Newcastle, was it naive and unprofessional? And what's the story with Yacob and Manu?
by Hailpantani10/31/2012 12:20:58 PM
Mooncat, yes, we (WMids media) reported it when he signed - as with ALL season long deals between PL clubs there is a recall. No indication (other than some very tenuous comments from RDM) that he will be recalled at this stage
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:21:39 PM
Bookworm, Many thanks. Not at the moment but I have a few ideas...
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:21:58 PM
Hailpantani, I disagree re Newcastle. They weren't actively attacking when the ball fell to Ameobi, had players behind the ball and in their own half. Just unlucky. And completely irrelevant to Man City game. Both games should be treated in isolation - as with all games. Man City outcome did smack a bit of naivity, NU was just bad luck. It happens.
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:23:31 PM
Surely Villa are and will always be the biggest club in Lichfield?
by RDM10/31/2012 12:24:09 PM
Chris where can I purchase your book online? Also can you please tell me what Clarke sees in Fortune?I was shocked he started against ManC, he can barely control the ball and is a horrendous finisher!
by Irishbaggie10/31/2012 12:24:13 PM
Where does Chris Brunt fit in Chris? A walk back into the side scenario?
by John10/31/2012 12:24:17 PM
Is there any truth in the rumour that Sir Alex Ferguson has got an eye on Yacob?
by PaigntonBaggie10/31/2012 12:24:18 PM
Do you think Paul Robinson is better than Liam Ridgewell?
by Marshall10/31/2012 12:24:25 PM
Did we lose purely because Yacob wasn't playing. How important is he Chris?
by Mr P10/31/2012 12:24:29 PM
Hailpantani / PaigntonBaggie- there is no story as such re Yacob and MU. MU send scouts to pretty much every PL game. The fact they've sent to WBA has led to someone putting two and two together. It's not even November yet so way too early to predict any interest. Has SAF got his eye on Yacob. He did have before, so , yes, he probably has. But it doesn't mean he'll follow that up with a bid or that albion would sell at this stage. It's all speculation. No more to it at this stage
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:25:37 PM
John, I can't imagine Chris Brunt would walk straight back in - difficult to envisage who would be left out. He was eased back in at the start of the season when he came back from injury
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:26:46 PM
Marshall, depends whether you mean Paul Robinson the left-back or goalkeeper. Ridgewell, in any case, is a better left-back than both IMO
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:27:16 PM
Mr P, he's a very important player - but defeat wasn't down to him. Midfield did well. Dominant throughout game
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:27:57 PM
Just a few minutes remaining if you have any pressing questions...
by Birmingham Mail10/31/2012 12:28:23 PM
Irishbaggie, Fortuné performances during the week are very good - I know that from the feedback I've had from others. Also occupied that role at Celtic and Nancy so not new to him - understands what it demands and involves. I'm with you - would prefer to see someoen else given a run in that position, but coaches only partially take into account game form...a lot of their selection is based on what goes on in training, which is 80 per cent of the time the coach sees his players and can work with them. Training performances should never be underestimated in that respect
by Chris L10/31/2012 12:30:15 PM
Irishbaggie, you can buy it at www.inpasturesgreen.co.uk - thanks for your interest
