@ Burty - yes he did, but he wasted a lot of money doing it with players he didn't play or fell out with. Beye as a main example
by Craigytweets1/14/2013 12:11:31 PM
If Lambert has eny proide lef inim, ee shud jus wark
by SmallHeathDave1/14/2013 12:11:41 PM
@Andy W - if we get relegated, Lambert will leave anyway. He's ambitious and wants to move onwards and upwards....
by Craigytweets1/14/2013 12:11:47 PM
true but with nzog coming back maybe he might get more service eg ipswich
by pricey811/14/2013 12:12:17 PM
Football_Consultant1 @Football_Consu1 Stephen Ireland could be leaving Aston Villa very soon. A bid has been made for him from a London Club. #avfc
by villajoe211/14/2013 12:12:40 PM
@John M - oh, in that case i'd have him back in a heartbeat
by Craigytweets1/14/2013 12:12:48 PM
vlaar has to start saturday
by john m1/14/2013 12:13:00 PM
StroudVillaDan, we asked Lambert again after Saturday's match about Warnock and Hutton and got a mumbled reply which suggested the situation remains the same and they will carry on training with the kids. To be fair, Warnock was not great at left-back last season. That position really is an area for concern because Bradford targeted Bennett and Southampton targeted Stevens down that side in the past two defeats
by Mat Kendrick1/14/2013 12:13:14 PM
looks like it could be payback time next season for leeds... villa v leeds in championship....leeds afc
by tonyavfc1/14/2013 12:13:31 PM
lambert never shows any passion im starting to think he is on mogadons :)
by domingo1/14/2013 12:13:45 PM
Mat, have you ever asked for an interview with Paul Faulkner to ask him whats the current direction and plan? as we all know the guy at the top shys away from interviews
by Maradona_AVFC101/14/2013 12:14:08 PM
Matt, I think we are destined for relegation this season as we are simply not good enough. Why wont randy splash the cash now instead of getting relegated and losing out o 60+ million next season from the tv. We will be relegated unless we bring in some experience and premier league quality.
by Sam931/14/2013 12:14:16 PM
Are there any concerns at Villa about the effect consistent poor performances might have on attendances (ie, potentially cheaper ticket prices?)
by LazyBoyWilliams1/14/2013 12:14:22 PM
Martin, just answered the Hutton/Warnock one - well kind of answered it. Lambert has admitted a centre half and a midfielder top his wishlist, so we'll have to wait and see
by Mat Kendrick1/14/2013 12:14:30 PM
Hi Mat. Is chief scout Michael Henke leaving the club and if so what does that mean in the short and long-term?
by PMS1/14/2013 12:15:00 PM
doyou tihink might bring in a specialit defencive coah
by phi1/14/2013 12:15:05 PM
matt do any of the players seem to care after bradford only lowton came over to applaud the fans. the rest just walked off.
by Corysince19881/14/2013 12:15:37 PM
@Lazyboywilliams - great point pal...add to that "the fragile confidence of youngsters"
by Craigytweets1/14/2013 12:15:44 PM
@Sam93 - we wouldn't lost that must due to parachute payments...plus...why would you throw good money after bad if the worst was realised (might be Lerner's view)
by Craigytweets1/14/2013 12:15:48 PM
Is Lambert our worst ever manager, worse than DR JO and O Leary?
by Lichfield Mark1/14/2013 12:15:58 PM
Sounds outlandish but Modric is available for 2 million less than what we paid for Bent. I would also seriously look at Arshavin, Hangeland and Pennant
by MC1/14/2013 12:16:08 PM
Mat, just read in the Express & Star that Randy is sanctioning more mullah for Lambert - latest?
by Craigytweets1/14/2013 12:16:24 PM
Reports this morning suggest PL will be given funds to make possibly 2 necessary permanent signings to save us, is there truth in such speculation? I believe the position is retrievable however I don't trust him to make the right signings as I believe he'll persist in his misguided experiment to ignore experience!! I still find his team selections mystifying, formations unfathomable and tactics naive! Secondly if we lose heavily to Sandwell Town and fail against Bradford what's the possibility of RL pulling the trigger given that the cost of relegation will be far far greater than the cost of replacing PL which sadly is looking as if it is increasingly needed given his inability to learn from mistakes & change anything? UTV
by Wythall Villain1/14/2013 12:16:31 PM
I think Lambert should bring in Iain Dowie as coach and Avram Grant as DOF. Lambert needs help
by Lichfield Mark1/14/2013 12:16:41 PM
Injury updates are that, as far as I know, Herd will be out for at least another fortnight, Albrighton possibly for a couple of months, Dunne due to train in the next few days, Bent might have a chance of being fit for the weekend, Vlaar was back on the bench so I should imagine he'll start at Albion.... Bennett was ill on Saturday, not sure how he is. Think that's about it
by Mat Kendrick1/14/2013 12:16:42 PM
could we not have a poll ... lambert to go or say????
by tonyavfc1/14/2013 12:18:28 PM
by Birmingham Mail1/14/2013 12:18:32 PM
Few of you asking about Makoun being recalled from his loan. Lambert was asked about this last week and replied: "That is not an option", so I guess that rules that one out.
by Mat Kendrick1/14/2013 12:18:42 PM
@Everyone - we can stop asking about if Lambert will go...he has at least until the end of the season guys - that's obvious.
by Craigytweets1/14/2013 12:18:47 PM
I think we have lost our way completely. The manager is stubborn and rigid, the board only spent 20 million last summer and the players are all kids. We are one of the biggest clubs in the world and we deserve better.
by PorlT81/14/2013 12:19:05 PM
If we lose to Bradford PL should be sacked and get Iain Dowie and Shearer in as they did a good job at Newcastle.
by Matt S1/14/2013 12:19:13 PM
Could do worse that bring in Reo-Coker on a free for a couple of months, but I really don't think he would suddenly be the saviour that some people expect
by Mat Kendrick1/14/2013 12:19:26 PM
Lambert was the fans choice to take over, stick by him and the team, they need our support more than ever
by Chris1/14/2013 12:19:31 PM
Lambert is a good manager and coach...problem is he has a vision (youth) and it matches Lerner's vision (austerity) and the two can mean either inconsistent performances and/or time to get there.
by Craigytweets1/14/2013 12:19:36 PM
i heard an american fan on the radio saying that randy didnt spend any money on the browns and they were the worst team in the league so doubt he will spend on us
by john m1/14/2013 12:19:39 PM
Corysince, I have blamed O'Neill! But there have been a lot of poor decisions made since then that are nothing to do with O'Neill.
by Mat Kendrick1/14/2013 12:19:41 PM
Lambert is not the problem Faulkner is the problem and he should go
by Chris1/14/2013 12:19:52 PM
Get Alan SHearer in Lambert out!
by Roy H1/14/2013 12:20:00 PM
@Matts Shearer took Newcastle down, how did he do a good job?
by Deano1/14/2013 12:20:05 PM
reo coker might not be the saviiour but he will not take laclusture performances and let the players know it around him
by john m1/14/2013 12:20:09 PM
Matt - What financial position would we be in should we go down?
by Oxford Villan1/14/2013 12:20:21 PM
Hi Mat, do you think there is any chance PL will now look to more experienced players? Who would you realistically go for?
by Jimbo1/14/2013 12:20:24 PM
What the hell was Lambert thinking buying all these young players, does he feel threatened by having established, experienced players around. Lambert is a joke.
by Lichfield Mark1/14/2013 12:20:44 PM
on Ireland, please do not ask him to be our saviour, compare him to guy he replaced and you will see the difference in attitude and ability.
by Maradona_AVFC101/14/2013 12:20:50 PM
@pricey81 - I agree...if we play with wingers, Bent is a must alongside Benteke....doesn't solve the defensive issue.
