Hello, and welcome to Come Whine With Me!
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:03:19 PM
Hi Mat, You said last season if Mcleish got us relegated he should be sacked. He got sacked anyway. Do you feel the same about Lambert? Does he have to keep us up to keep his job?
by Steve S11/19/2012 1:03:27 PM
Mat are we going to get relegated, yes or no? I am very very worried
by Larry11/19/2012 1:03:31 PM
Can believe some Villa fans were saying they wouldnt mind if we went down after Saturdays result!! What are they on?
by Mark11/19/2012 1:03:42 PM
Should Randy Lerner sell? Will he sell? Is his heart still in it?
by bannedrico11/19/2012 1:04:38 PM
Hi Mat, I know we can argue till the cows come home that we were still in it until linesman made that woeful decision. But still we should play to the whistle no matter what the score, it is a worrying sign that in almost every game this season we have been on the back foot in the later stages of the match and seem to capitulate that have cost us winning points and drawing points. Why do you think this is? Are our players not fit enough to maintain a level of performance for 90 minutes? Or is it simply down to confidence and or motivation?
by Cork Villian11/19/2012 1:04:40 PM
A good manager should be able to coach players and iron out their faults or fit them in the right system the way Chris Hughton has done. Why couldn't Lambert fit Hutton as a wing back.
by Nigel11/19/2012 1:06:52 PM
Steve S, yes same rules apply for me. If Villa do go down I think it would be hard for him to keep his job. HOPEFULLY it won't come to that though
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:06:59 PM
Larry, no! Ask me again next month. And the one after that and so on...
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:07:18 PM
Mark, don't know what they were on, but it seems like pretty strong stuff. Villa MUST stay up.
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:07:25 PM
Bannedrico, the word from Villa is that the chairman is still as passionate about/committed to the club as ever. It will be interesting to see how he reacts in January if Villa are still in or around the bottom three
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:07:33 PM
Are the fixtures against Reading, Stoke and QPR going to make or break our season do you think Mat?
by Geoff11/19/2012 1:08:12 PM
Did Benteke really say Villa were a stepping stone club? It was reported in Belgium to Belgium interviewers surely?
by Mark11/19/2012 1:08:21 PM
Mat, Is Lambert being arrogant in not giving Warnock, Hutton etc a chance. We could do with these experienced players right now.
by Mike11/19/2012 1:08:23 PM
next 2 games we need 4 points!
by tim11/19/2012 1:08:26 PM
Hey Mat. What's the mood in the camp following the Man City thumping?
by ChrisHazeldine11/19/2012 1:08:31 PM
I think we are doomed. Do you Mat? Why can't people see through Lambert? He is over rated
by RotterdamRick11/19/2012 1:08:43 PM
Hey Mat, all well? So, what do you make of the season so far, worst start in how many years? But some signs of a better long term style of play plans maybe?
by JP Fear11/19/2012 1:09:01 PM
lots of panic but this was always gonna be a tough period, a point at the weekend and were all be buzzing again
by mike8311/19/2012 1:09:14 PM
Come on, Villa were never in it. Doesn't matter if Mancs got a dodgy pen we were second best. We have to target Reading for a must win now
by RotterdamRick11/19/2012 1:09:23 PM
Why does Lambert keep saying he has faith in the players- he sounds more like Mcleish everyday
by Colin11/19/2012 1:09:24 PM
Cork Villain, it is a fair point about how Villa have crumbled at times this season. Southampton away springs to mind the most. I don't think it is a question of fitness, I think it is more a question of inexperience and a loss of confidence. Villa are looking for leaders like Vlaar to pull them together when the going gets tough, but in Ron's defence, he too is learning his trade at this level.
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:09:56 PM
Are you convinced that Ciaran Clark is a natural partner for Ron Vlaar? Or do you feel that Nathan Baker or even Daniel Devine deserve to step up? Or perhaps we should be looking to integrate Richard Dunne into the side as soon as possible?
by Paul_Crombie11/19/2012 1:10:54 PM
I personally dont think the situation will change until there is a change of ownership of the club
by Stroudvilladan11/19/2012 1:11:03 PM
Nigel, Lambert decided Hutton was not for him almost immediately. I find it a strange situation that, for all his faults last season, there is no way to re-integrate an international defender back into the squad. I'm not saying play him, but at least bring him into the fold to try to earn a place.
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:11:03 PM
Don't you think Randy Lerner is at fault for our predicament? If Doug was still incharge there would have been protests already !
by Mark11/19/2012 1:11:53 PM
Are Villa going the way of the Cleveland Browns? We are on our way to becomming the worst team in the league? What is motivating Mr Lerner?
by bannedrico11/19/2012 1:11:53 PM
It's looking more and more like Lambert is just a man motivator he's not a tactician and he's being found out.
by SImon T11/19/2012 1:12:08 PM
Geoff, I think fixtures against the teams around them are crucial to where Villa finish the season, yes. It's still early days, but if Villa continued to pick up points at the same rate, they would finish the season with just 31
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:12:10 PM
Mark, I've not seen the original Benteke interview to be honest - and my Belgian's not that great anyway. I wouldn't have thought he was naive enough to have said that, even though he is still a young lad, so I think it's best to give him the benefit of the doubt (have you seen the size of him!)
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:13:26 PM
Are the media thinking the Lambert gamble - investing in youth and inexperience is not going to plan. Is he out of his depth?
by Sporting_Genius11/19/2012 1:13:38 PM
Matt if villa are around the bottom 3 in Jan i can see randy spending 20mil again - not for the love of villa just the TV money deal next season is way to big for him for villa to go down .... agree matt??
by dazzautv11/19/2012 1:13:39 PM
Can't believe people are clamouring for a return for Hutton, no wonder we're called fickle, one of the worst players ever to wear the Villa shirt
by Paul_Crombie11/19/2012 1:14:05 PM
Have to agree with Mike Hutton is being treated very badly...we need experience in the sqaud
by Stroudvilladan11/19/2012 1:14:11 PM
Lambert reminds me of o`dreary "lovely bunch of lads"
by Stroudvilladan11/19/2012 1:14:27 PM
Honestly does Lerner, Faulkner and Lambert have a clue? We are going backwards
by Bugsy11/19/2012 1:14:50 PM
Mike, I understand your point, but the clamour last season from many was for Hutton and Warnock to be dropped and for the kids to come in. I personally wouldn't disregard any player in the current situation Villa are in - they need all the help they can get - but Lambert in has ultra-confidence in the players he has got/is playing
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:14:53 PM
Better long term style of play? What, losing football?!! Wake up, we are in serious danger of relegation!!
by Bugsy11/19/2012 1:15:07 PM
for a team battling in the bottom half, bannan, westwood and ireland is a too lightweight midfield, no?
by christophegera11/19/2012 1:15:17 PM
Who cares about pretty football? The only thing that matters are results. Can't believe the fools who think results aren't important? look at west ham and Big Sam, would kill for an experienced manager right now.
by Jon11/19/2012 1:15:23 PM
How come Lambert gets no stick but everything last season was McLeish's fault?
by Jock11/19/2012 1:15:25 PM
ChrisHazeldine, I was at the manager's post match press conference so haven't had chance to speak to any players since Saturday. Hopefully will see some of them tomorrow so will have a better idea then. Lambert's post match media was mainly dominated by that penalty decision, although he did talk briefly about Villa being in the bottom three
by Mat Kendrick11/19/2012 1:16:32 PM
Need to stop blaming Randy Lerner.
by Jon11/19/2012 1:17:11 PM
Dunne would bring back some experience at the back, how about deploying him as sweeper for the Arsenal game
